My foot is still not 100%.  I do a lot of bike riding though, which makes me feel a little better about exercise.  I really want to run again soon.  I havn’t seen a doctor about my foot, I have a feeling it might’ve been more serious than I thought, I think as long as I don’t do anything stupid I should be back hitting the pavement soon.

Because of this my running has been put on hold for a while.  So because of that and high gas prices, I’ve decided to ride a bike as much as possible.  It makes me feel like a kid, but thats fun.  I do really want to run again though, its been amazing weather for it.  I hope I won’t be sidelined for too much longer.

Till next time,

Once again I decided I would run today yesterday.  It also took me until this evening to get out there.

I planned my route on gmap-pedometer.com, up to the park then back home for 4 miles total.  Up from what I’ve been doing the past week or so.  Around mile 2 my legs felt kinda heavy but that went away toward the final stretch.  I’m gonna try to keep true to a at least 3 runs this week.

I can see you’re new, awake
Let me assure you, friend
Every day is ice cream and chocolate cake
And what you make of it

Its been a few weeks, what was I thinking?  This morning I decided I had to get back out and have a run.  This afternoon I changed into running gear, at a PB & J, watched Sportscenter for a while, did a little “on demand” workout, then finally got out for my run.

I wish I could remember some of the stuff I think of when I’m out and about.  One thing I do remember is an idea for a reverse suprise party where the birthday boy/girl is chillin at home maybe in the middle of the day when all of a sudden 20 people walk in the door.  Good idea?

Hopefully I won’t take another 2 week break again soon.

Yesterday I decided I’d run today.

After a large bfast, I digested while catching up on the shows I missed last night.  Then the rain came.  I decided not to run.  Watched a few more shows, and the rain stopped.  I checked the weather and saw that it wasn’t gonna rain again for a bit so I went out for the 3mile route.  About a quarter way into it, the rain came back.  I almost turned back but quickly changed my mind, it wasn’t too cold, it was refreshing.  I don’t know why I havn’t been running in the rain more often.  It took me back to younger more care-free days.  The best part of running in rain is when you find a long stretch of black pavement, its like running on a mirror.

It was also fun to see the people’s faces as they drove by, wondering why I would do such a thing.  I just smiled inside and enjoyed this nice spring day.

About a week ago, the motivation in my runner’s daily motivation book talked about looking around and appreciating the trees starting to look green again.  Well, I forget if I ran that day, but a few weeks ago, the trees definitetly weren’t spouting leaves all over the place.  I did keep a mental note to keep an eye out on their progress though.  The past few times I’ve been out I have noticed plants and nature comin alive, its great.

I also picked up another running book at the library, its Running: a celebration of the sport and the world’s best places to enjoy it by John Schubert.  Its pretty good. Schubert talks about his own experiences with the sport and gives great advice about stretching, dealing with injuries, other health stuff.  I’m not to the “best places to run” part yet.

So, today I did 3.5 miles, didn’t keep track of time.  It was a good run.

It’s getting a little warmer out, today its around 68 I think.  Weather.com’s fitness comfort level thing said it was a 9 out of 10 day so I thought I’d try a little more distance in my run.  I headed over to Inglenook park, did a lap and a half there then cut through a neighborhood to get to Lahser up to 11 mile.  From there I was gonna just go through Lathrup Village, but decided then to push it and head to Southfield Road, then back home.  So altogether it was 6.88 miles.  Kinda mad I didn’t hit the 7 mile point, but this is the farthest I’ve ever ran so I’m happy.  I was definitely feelin the strain toward the end a little bit though.  Around mile 4, I walked for a few blocks.  I wish I could run where there were less cars.

I ran a few days ago too but forgot to log it.  I think it was around 5 miles, mostly at Inglenook, then a walk home.

3 miles in 22 minutes!

Theres supposedly a tornado warning until 9pm so I had to get out and do a few miles before it got crazy.

There was no rain, but there was definitely a lot of wind, I tell ya.  Nearly blew me into traffic.  It was fun to run into it though, almost like goin up a hill.

Considering today wasn’t too eventful, I’m glad I got out for a few minutes..for your health!

well. i thought i was too tired.  got back from workin and ate.  could’ve taken a nap but i guilted myself into running, kinda.

this morning on my drive, i thought about how i need to take more risks and not play life so safe, like i’ve been doing for the past 6 months or so.  THEN on a re-run of Scrubs, it was the episode where JD talks about the same thing, it was crazy.  So I thought, shoot. I don’t care if I’m feelin too tired and lazy, I gotta get out and run before the sun goes down.  I went extra fast cause I didn’t think my ipod’s battery was gonna last, plus I wanted to test my limits.

Couldn’t be happier with the result.  I felt a little bit of crampin up but I worked through it, and managed to control my breathing so I didn’t pass out.  I can actually say this was a real run, not just joggin.  I made 3 miles in 25 minutes.  Gettin closer to my 6min mile!  I wasn’t keeping track of how fast each mile was, I could’ve done it in this run, next time I’ll keep track.
